Khawaja Asif Mehmood, Pakistan Petroleum’s information secretary, said that the price of gasoline in the nation may drop by Rs. 100 per litre if Russian oil arrives.

Speaking to the media, the secretary noted that Pakistan’s petrol prices ought to have decreased in line with the decline in the price of oil on the world market. Pakistan will receive the oil at a reduced price compared to the market price, per the arrangement with Russia.

According to the secretary, Pakistan would get Russian oil in the third week of May. The initial batch is being sent to Pakistan for testing. He further emphasised that while there is still work to be done on other refineries, Pakistan already has two refineries that can process imported oil.

In the final week of May or the first week of June, the first shipment of crude oil will arrive in Pakistan. On this cargo, Pakistan will receive a discount of up to $18 per barrel.

For the Pakistani people, who are hampered by inflation, this is a pleasant future.
