After?a rape case?in Islamabad’s F-9 Park, the Capital Development Authority (CDA)?decided to create a helpline for park visitors. According to the CDA, this decision was made for the benefit of visitors.

Sources reported that the helpline would be established, and its phone number will be displayed throughout the park. In the event of an unpleasant incident, citizens can notify the park administration by dialling the helpline.

Talking to the media, officials said that F-9 Park has a total area of 765 hectares, with a large portion of the park consisting of forest. Citizens frequently get lost in the park’s forest area. This helpline will also be useful for lost people in the park.

The officials further said that the park’s monitoring is being tight following the recent incident. More motorcycles are being distributed to CDA field staff, and the number of staff in the park is also increasing.

In addition, timings for entering the park’s forest area are being established; people will?not be?allowed to enter the park’s forest area during the evening hours. Meanwhile, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police have also been called up to increase police patrolling in the park during the evening hours, the officials added.

Last month. CDA has submitted a summary to the federal government seeking changes to laws covering Zone III in an effort to regulate construction in the federal capital. Sources in the interior ministry said that the summary has been received and will be forwarded to the federal cabinet for its approval after a review.

“Yes, we have received a CDA summary regarding zoning regulations. The summary’s fate will be decided this week”, a ministry official said.

The summary offers the cabinet two options: either approve the proposed changes made by a committee led by CDA member planning or form a commission headed by a judge and supported by a technical team.
