Due to their involvement with Pakistan’s nuclear programme, the military or defence industrial base of Russia, or their supply of Iranian electronics industry, 24 businesses and other entities have been put by the Biden administration to an export restriction list.
According to the Commerce Department, the organizations, which include offices in Latvia, Pakistan, Russia, Singapore, and Switzerland, were added due to concerns about US national security and foreign policy. These businesses include AO Kraftway Corporation PSC, which describes itself as one of the largest Russian IT firms, and Fiber Optic Solutions in Latvia, which manufactures fibre optic gyroscopes and other equipment.
The company claims that it manufactures and offers a wide variety of IT solutions. Also on the list are Russian AO Scientific Research Center for Electronic Computing, LLC Fibersense, and Scientific Production Company Optolin, AO PKK Milandr; Milandr EK OOO; Milandr ICC JSC; Milur IS, OOO; (OOO) Microelectronic Production Complex (MPK) Milandr; and Ruselectronics JSC and Swiss based Milur SA.
The Pardazan System Namad Arman (PASNA), an Iranian electronics business, was sanctioned by the US Treasury in 2018. As a result, the Commerce Department added four trade and supply companies in Singapore.
Additionally, the Biden administration listed 10 companies in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates that it claims pose unacceptably high risks of using or diverting materials for Pakistan’s unguarded nuclear activities or are involved in Pakistan’s “nuclear activities and missile proliferation-related activities.”
All of the firms were unable to comment right away. Since Moscow invaded Ukraine in February, the United States has aggressively used export controls and the entity list to penalise businesses for supporting the Russian military and stopping Western technology’s flow to Russia.
Before shipping to businesses added to the list, US product suppliers must apply for a unique, challenging licence.
