Mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara, son of well-known high-altitude hiker Muhammad Ali Sadpara, successfully summited the world’s eighth highest peak – Mount Manaslu – in Nepal without the help of supplementary oxygen.

After this accomplishment, Sajid has become the first Pakistani to summit the ‘True Summit’ of Manaslu. Mount Manaslu is found 8,163 metres above sea level in the Mansiri Himal, part of the Nepalese Himalayas, in the west-central part of Nepal. The name Manaslu means “mountain of the spirit”.

From Sajid’s Twitter handle, the news was confirmed, “Alhamdulliah, Sajid has summited Mt Manaslu 8163m world’s 8th highest mountain without oxygen this afternoon and is first Pakistan to climb to the True Summit

Congratulations Pakistan #Manaslu2022”

Prior to achieving the feat, his expedition reportedly avoided an avalanche that struck below C-4. At this time, Sajid had crossed 8,000meter.

“There has been an avalanche on Mt Manaslu below C-4.?Sajid Sadpara is Alhamdullilah safe and fine, as they have already crossed 8000m. More details to follow. Wish everybody a safe climb.?Requests for prayers and good wishes Pakistan #Manaslu2022”

Moreover, the climber has already climbed K2 (8,611meter) twice. Sajid has also summited the peaks of Gasherbrum-I (8,080m) and Gasherbrum-II (8,035m) without additional oxygen.

Last year in July, it was?reported?that the mountaineer had found the bodies of three missing climbers including his father, who went missing during his expedition to summit K2 in February 2021, from the ‘Bottleneck’ and secured them at Camp-4.

Sajid and government officials said that the bodies were?spotted?below the Bottleneck by Sherpas.

Ali Sadpara with his two teammates –Juan Pablo Mohr Prieto from Chile, and John Snorri Sigurjónsson from Iceland – were declared dead on Feb 18, around two weeks after they went missing on the ‘Savage Mountain’.
