The Punjab government has approved PKR 3 billion for two mega projects as part of the Lahore Infrastructure Development Initiative. The Samanabad underpass and the Shahdara Multi-level Grade Separation Project are among the projects.
According to the details, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has received an initial PKR 500 million to begin structure work on the Samanabad structure, with the remainder granted for the Shahdara restricting project.
The Samanabad project will include the construction of a 500-meter-long two-way underpass, which is expected to take 13 months to complete.
Furthermore, the development project will improve traffic flow on Multan Road, preventing congestion and bottlenecks.
The Punjab government recently provided PKR 4.60 billion to complete over 20 development projects in the provincial capital. The funds to complete all projects have been approved for fiscal year (FY) 2022-23.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the government has disbursed funds for all projects under construction over the last five years.
The funding for the following projects was approved:

- The construction of the Sagian Road project was approved for PKR 1.16 billion.

- PKR 380.5 million were set aside for the Sheranwala Flyover project.

- PKR 340.1 million were approved for the Lahore Bridge project’s completion.

- PKR 335 million were set aside for the development of the Shahadra Sports Complex.

- PKR 300 million were set aside to develop the Canal Sports Complex.

- PKR 230.28 million were set aside to develop the Township Sports Complex.
