On February 14, 2023, Salman Irshad celebrates after getting a wicket against the Karachi Kings at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.

Peshawar Zalmi defeated Karachi Kings by two runs in the second match of the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi on Tuesday.

When Peshawar batted first, they scored a whopping 199 runs before holding the home side to 197-5 in 20 overs, due to Cadmore’s superb performance and the bowlers’ brilliant bowling showing.

Khurram, on the other hand, rose to the situation and repaid his skipper Babar’s faith by bowling a stunning last over to help his team win the game.

Khurram began the last over, needing 16 off six balls, with a well-placed wide yorker, giving up one run.

The second pitch was an almost immaculate yorker that also cost a run.

Khurram’s third delivery was a no-ball, but he followed it up with a nice free hit. The right-arm spinner held his cool and delivered the next two deliveries in great positions to keep the total safe and prevent Imad and Ben Cutting from reaching it.

Imad, an all-rounder, battled hard and hit an unbroken 80 runs off 47 balls, including seven boundaries and four maximums.

Imad and Malik put on a 131-run partnership to spark Karachi’s comeback after Peshawar Zalmi’s bowlers demolished the opponents’ top order.

Sharjeel Khan fell prey to Wahab Riaz, the former Yellow Storm captain.

Later, Jimmy Neesham sent Australian batsman Matthew Wade (23) and Pakistan’s teenage all-rounder Qasim Akram (7) back to the pavilion.

Meanwhile, Salman Irshad got a wicket on his first ball, dismissing Haider Ali, who scored 12 runs off 10 balls.

After losing four wickets, Karachi skipper Imad Wasim and experienced all-rounder Shoaib Malik led the chase, putting on a magnificent combination.

In the 17th over, Wahab Riaz had the opportunity to dismiss Malik, but he dropped the catch off Neesham.

Wahab, on the other hand, got the better of Malik in the last over, when the all-rounder was caught behind off the experienced spinner after reaching his half-century.

Wahab bowled a no-ball on the last ball of his over, which got Ben Cutting out. The Australian batter had to stay at the crease, but the left-arm bowler came back with a wide yorker on the free-hit delivery.

Earlier, the irrepressible Tom Kohler-Cadmore helped Peshawar Zalmi score 199 runs.

Cadmore and captain Babar Azam helped Zalmi fight back into the game after losing two quick wickets.

The English hitter batted brilliantly for his team, getting 92 runs off 50 balls with seven boundaries and six maximums.

Cadmore hammered Kings skipper Imad for three maximums in a row, while Babar demonstrated his exceptional ability to strike boundaries.

Meanwhile, Babar scored his 24th PSL fifty with Cadmore, hitting seven fours and a maximum.

The two batters remained at the crease and put on a massive 139-run third-wicket stand.

After scoring 68 runs off 46 balls, Imran Tahir sent Babar back to the pavilion, breaking the partnership.

After Babar was bowled, Sri Lankan batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa approached the crease but was dismissed after hitting six runs off six balls.

Following two boundaries in the opening over by Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Haris welcomed Mir Hamza with a boundary, but the left-arm bowler trapped the young wicketkeeper batsman for an LBW with an in-swinging yorker.

In the same over, Saim Ayub was run out following Babar’s straight drive, which struck Hamza’s hand before tumbling the wickets at the non-striker’s end.
