Pakistan Ranked 2Nd Most Financially Attractive Location For Outsourcing It Services

Pakistan is ranked as the second largest supplier of digital labour services, such as creative and multimedia services, clerical and data entry services, sales and marketing support services,?professional services,?software development and technology services, and writing and translation services, per the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Flagship Report (2021). 

The?Economic Survey 2022-23 revealed that?Kearney’s Global Services Location Index (2021) placed Pakistan as the second most financially desirable location in the world for offshore outsourcing IT and ITeS. 


More than 19,000 IT and ITeS companies, including both domestic and export-oriented enterprises, are registered with SECP in software development and technology services across 160 locations in the country. 


In March 2023, there are 5,109 IT and ITeS companies registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) representing exporters. Survey further revealed that Major Tech centres of the IT and ITeS industry included Lahore (36.4 percent), Karachi (28 percent), and Islamabad/Rawalpindi (27 percent) of PSEB registered companies. 


Moreover, the key stakeholders are putting out their best efforts to grow the number of enterprises by raising the number of Software Technology Parks (STPs) and allowing the IT and ITeS industries to capitalise on national talent. 


The IT sector offers a diverse range of products and services to the world’s major corporations.
