People with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are discouraged in almost every part of the world.
According to the details, almost 2% of Pakistanis have ADHD or ASD. However, having these two conditions is equivalent to having mental superpowers, which most Pakistanis are unaware of.
While specific ADHD and ASD characteristics such as difficulty focusing, difficulty sitting still, and impulsive behaviour may impede individuals’ abilities in various ways, there are many benefits of ADHD and ASD that can be superpowers for people with these two conditions.
ADHD is among the common childhood neurodevelopmental disorders. It is typically diagnosed in childhood and can last into adulthood. Children suffering from ADHD may have difficulty controlling impulsive behaviours (acting without considering the outcome), paying attention, or being overly active.
Dr Khurrum Sadiq was recently hosted by Media in its podcast “How Does It Work?” for an in-depth discussion about people with ADHD and ASD.
Talking to the media, Dr Khurram discussed his personal experiences with ADHD and ASD. He expressed regret that society used to label people with ADHD and ASD with derogatory terms.
He informed the media reporter about the symptoms that indicate someone is on the autistic spectrum. They also go over what parents should do if they discover their child has ADHD or ASD.
Moreover, he agreed that ADHD and ASD have numerous benefits. These advantages are no less than superpowers, such as increased energy and hyper-focus. According to Dr Khurram, nearly 2% of Pakistanis have ADHD or ASD, which means they have mental superpowers of they are probably unaware of.
