For the convenience of travellers, the Motorway Police have introduced an e-ticketing app. Travellers will receive digital tickets under this new system, which will eliminate the need for paper tickets.
A Motorway Police representative stated that drivers will accrue points for any errors or infractions, and that their licence will be suspended if they have accrued a certain number of points. The goal of this is to promote increased road safety.
Additionally, the system has auto-filled information, which speeds up and simplifies driver registration. It will also improve road safety by assisting law enforcement in more effectively tracking down stolen automobiles.
Salman Choudhry, IG Motorways, discussed the progress made by the highway network during the 28th anniversary of the National Highways and Motorways Police. He clarified that the network had only 366 kilometres when it first began in 1997. Now spanning more than 4,500 kilometres, there are plans to expand it throughout all four provinces.
IG Motorways added that in order to maintain safety, police officers make use of cutting-edge equipment including speed guns, radars, and ambulances. Since last year, 95% of axle load rules have been put into effect, notwithstanding certain difficulties with axle load management.
Salman Choudhry also praised the police, highlighting a sub-inspector who was killed after being struck by a car. The police force is currently 97% paperless, which improves operational efficiency, he said as he announced intentions to implement a cashless system.
The introduction of the e-ticketing app by the Motorway Police is expected to have several positive impacts on traffic violations:
- Increased Efficiency:
The app streamlines the ticketing process, reducing the time officers spend on issuing tickets. This allows them to monitor traffic more effectively and issue more citations, which can deter violations.
- Reduced Errors:
Digital tickets minimize errors associated with handwritten tickets, such as illegible writing or incomplete information. This leads to more accurate and enforceable citations.
- Enhanced Compliance:
The app’s ability to track violations and accumulate points can encourage drivers to adhere to traffic laws to avoid penalties like license suspension.
- Transparency and Accountability:
The digital system reduces opportunities for corruption and ensures that all violations are recorded and processed fairly.
- Improved Road Safety:
By making the ticketing process more efficient and accurate, the app can contribute to overall road safety, potentially reducing the number of accidents and fatalities.
Overall, the e-ticketing app is likely to promote better compliance with traffic laws and enhance road safety.
