Former Federal Minister Ali Amin Gandapur inaugurated construction work on two flyovers in Tank Adda and Sabzi-Mandi Chowk in Dera City, which will cost PKR 3.22 billion, according to news reports.
During the inauguration ceremony, the NLC officials briefed the former minister on the project. According to the details, the project will be completed within 30 months by the National Logistics Cell (NLC).
The former minister unveiled a plaque at the Syndicate Mor during his visit, which Dera Deputy Commissioner Nasrullah Khan, Assistant Commissioner Farhan Ahmed, NESPAK and NLC officials attended.
Talking to the media, Mr Gandapur stated that the flyovers would reduce traffic congestion and boost business activity in the city. He said the money was set aside for WAPDA installations, underground sewer lines, and gas pipelines. According to the news source, the provincial government has implemented a balanced development policy.
Furthermore, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) began work on the flyover section of the Bhara Kahu bypass project last month.
In this regard, National Logistics Cell (NLC), the CDA’s contractor, has begun piling work (underground pillars) on the one-kilometre flyover project, which is part of the Bhara Kahu bypass road.
According to officials from the civic body’s engineering wing, approximately 275 piles will be installed in the flyover portion.
They warned motorists would face increased traffic congestion during construction because the existing Murree Road was only two lanes wide and inadequate to handle the traffic volume. However, officials stated that every effort would be made to ensure traffic flowed smoothly.
The bypass road is 5.33 kilometres long in total, with 4 kilometres of grade road and 1.33 kilometres of the elevated road (flyover). Except for the area of Quaid-i-Azam (QAU) University, work on the project is currently proceeding at full speed. The QAU portion has been suspended following a stay order issued by the Islamabad High Court to university faculty members (IHC).
