Cement Sales Jump 37% As Construction Picks Up

The construction sector in Pakistan is witnessing a significant resurgence, as indicated by a notable 37% surge in domestic cement sales, totaling 6.573 million tonnes during the first two months of the fiscal year 2023-24 (July-August), compared to 4.8 million tonnes in the same period last year.

Concurrently, export shipments have also experienced remarkable growth, increasing by 117.13% to reach 1.175 million tonnes during the same two-month period, compared to 540,957 tonnes in the preceding year.

This robust performance has culminated in total cement despatches (combining domestic and export) amounting to 7.747 million tonnes, marking a substantial 45% increase from the 5.337 million tonnes recorded during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

In the month of August alone, total cement despatches, encompassing both domestic and export markets, saw a remarkable 37% rise, surging to 4.518 million tonnes compared to 3.297 million tonnes in August 2022.

Data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) reveals that domestic cement despatches in August reached 3.793 million
