Angelina Jolie, a humanitarian, and Hollywood actress has urged the international community to help the flood victims in Pakistan immediately.
During his tour to Pakistan, UNHRC representative Angelina Jolie visited by National Flood Response & Coordination Centre.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before,” she exclaimed. “Many times, I came because of the generosity that Pakistani people shown to people of Afghanistan over the years as a host country. So often the countries that don’t have as much as so many other countries are now carrying the burden of the disaster, the pain, and the death.”
And I’m completely with you in encouraging the international community to do more, Jolie stated. We talk about its appeals, reliefs, and supports a lot, but this is something quite different. This, in my opinion, should serve as a wake-up call to everyone about where we are.
Even as someone who has worked in humanitarian aid for years, we frequently look at the crisis and think of strategies for resolving it and what we can do, such as what to rebuild, how to assist the children, or how to provide for ourselves. The climate change is not only real; it is also coming and is already very much here.
And right now, there are so many necessities, and for so many individuals, every effort genuinely means the difference between life and death.
The UNHCR representative stated, “Every current effort that I have seen, I see the army, I’ve been with the army and with my colleagues and I’ve seen those lives that were saved but also seen those who have been speaking to people and thinking that if enough aid doesn’t come, they won’t be here in the next few weeks, they won’t make it, too many children, so malnourished, and even if they make it through the next months, the winter coming and the destruction of the crops and further harsh reality.?
“I honestly have no idea how it must feel to be there. I see that there has been a lot of thinking put into what to do beyond this immediate situation and what it will take. I am in Pakistan as a friend and value the good friendships I have made there, so I will keep visiting. At this time, people are close to my heart.
Angelina Jolies statement is a charge sheet against those countries who are responsible for the climate change. The burden of wrong doings by other countries is being suffered by a country who is already in poor financial condition and with this flood which covered one-third of the country and causing approximately $30 billion loss to Pakistans economy, which it cannot sustain.
