Veteran Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has expressed his wish to play in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, revealing his choice to represent Virat Kohli’s team, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Amir, who has performed 36 tests, 61 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 62 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), is optimistic about becoming eligible to play. He mentions his plans to secure a United Kingdom passport through his wife, Narjis, a UK citizen.
Talking on a private TV show, Amir shared that if given the opportunity, he would not hesitate to play in the IPL.
“If I get the opportunity to play next year, I’d play,” he said, adding that RCB was his favorite team, making the prospect of joining them specifically appealing.

“By next year, I’ll be able to have the opportunity to play in the IPL. If given the chance, why not? I will play within the IPL,” he said.
The left-arm pacer recalled former Pakistani players doing commentary and coaching jobs within the IPL.
“Pakistani cricketers are now not allowed to play in the IPL, yet a number of our former players are doing commentary and coaching franchises,” Mohammad Amir said.
Expressing his admiration for big-name India batter Virat Kohli, the speedy Pakistan bowler said that he would love to represent Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2026.
“Virat is a top-notch player who admires talent. He gave me his bat, and I was overwhelmed by his gesture. I have continually admired his batting, and he respects my bowling. I played some good knocks with that bat,” Amir shared.
