An NUST student designed an automatic traffic light system that will run only on traffic observation and prevent traffic congestion.
As per the information, the lights will be controlled by a cutting-edge system and an app that will avoid traffic congestion on any road. The traffic conditions will determine whether the signals flash according to green or red for the allocated duration.
The signals will also favor security and emergency vehicles. It can identify an ambulance, a fire truck, or any other special vehicle and give them priority access to the road.
The Capital Development Authority’s Chairman, Captain (Retired) Muhammad Usman, has also expressed interest in the novel signal technology and asked the student to a meeting.
Police in Islamabad Are Cracking Down On Illegal Parking
The traffic division of the Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICTP) has begun a crackdown against unauthorized parking in the Blue Area.
The department stated in a tweet on its behalf of itself:
“Sidewalks are meant for pedestrians. Please don’t turn them into a parking lot, and be a responsible citizen.”
One of the twin cities’ major business districts, Blue Area, frequently has parking issues. Citizens are compelled to park their cars along the roadside because of the lack of parking spaces.
While the public has praised ICTP for addressing the traffic flow issue, they have also asked the administration to provide more parking in Blue Area to eliminate these problems.
In addition, the department is also conducting a severe operation against unregistered vehicles on the roads in the nation’s capital. According to a media report, the department has fined thousands of motorcycles and unregistered cars since 2022 began.
Following the special directions of Inspector General (IG) Islamabad Police Akbar Nasir Khan, specialized teams have been sent to the federal capital to target vehicles without license plates and registration.
