Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Khan Tarakai, has claimed that the provincial government is expected to announce shortly an advertisement for the recruitment of 17,000 teachers.
He chaired over a teacher recruitment policy review meeting few days ago. Special Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Department, Qaiser Alam, Director I.T. Salahuddin, and further supplementary director, Dr. Iqbal, other senior department authorities also participated in the meeting.
The provincial minister claimed that due to the promotions and retirement, a huge number of vacancies have been rendered vacant and now a hiring process for 17,000 teachers is expected to start to fill those vacant posts on an emergency basis. He claimed that supplying teachers to schools is considered to be a chief concern and it would be delivered to both boys’ and girls’ schools. Â

He claimed that keeping in view the extreme shortage of teachers, the authorities of the department have been given orders to furnish the details of all those teachers who were either on long leave or had taken extraordinary leave for going abroad or on deputation in other departments and reject their leave and deputation with immediate effect.
The provincial minister excluded any compromise in education, claiming that the duty of the teachers is teaching to the boys and girls in any circumstances and environment and they are not permitted to do any other work. Faisal Khan Tarakai further given orders to the authorities to take steps for all those teachers who are posted on the management cadre posts at the directorate level, secretariat or any district offices to escort them back to their actual posts and to furnish the report with respect to a period of one week.
On the subject of financial implications of the new recruitment, he claimed that all the 17,000 teachers would likely to be recruited on the already existing posts, therefore it is expected to not put any additional burden on the provincial committee. However, he claimed that no objection certificate NOC in this concern will likely be got from the finance department with immediate effect.
