One of China’s top mid-range killer smartphone firms, Xiaomi, is renowned for producing high-quality mid-range phones. With the launch of its first-ever electric vehicle, the Xiaomi SU7, in April 2024, it is set to join the EV automotive market.

There are reports that Xiaomi may soon launch its electric vehicle in Pakistan. Xiaomi’s SU7 Max electric car was reportedly sighted at the Karachi port. Upon releasing the SU7 EV in Beijing this year, the second-largest smartphone maker in the world caused a stir, garnering over 90,000 pre-orders on the first day of sales.

A few individuals on social media postulated that Xiaomi would be testing electric vehicles (EVs) for the Pakistani market, adding that Airlink, which assembles Xiaomi and Redmi phones in Pakistan, might introduce Xiaomi electric vehicles here.

Air Link Communication CEO Muzzaffar Hayat Piracha later confirmed that the company has imported two units of the Xiaomi SU7 electric cars.

“While we have indeed imported two Xiaomi SU7 electric cars as part of our continued interest in cutting-edge technology, any decisions regarding the setup of an assembly plant will depend on market dynamics and strategic alignment,” Piracha said.

The Deepal EVs from Changan have already been unveiled by Master Motors, and BYD has also made an appearance in Pakistan. Locally, DFML is assembling models like the Honri 2.0 and 3.0.

  • Expected Cost of Xiaomi SU7 EV in Pakistan:

The base variant of the SU7 EV is anticipated to cost between 9 and 9.5 million Pakistani Rupees if Xiaomi decides to formally launch the vehicle in that country.

The base model’s current international pricing of roughly $31000 is the basis for this prediction.

  • Anticipated Date of Pakistani Release for Xiaomi SU7 EV:

Currently, the precise date of arrival remains undisclosed, and the quantity of electric vehicles that have been brought into Pakistan is still unknown. It’s unclear if these imports are for wealthy auto aficionados or for testing.

If the SU7 EV is ever released, it will be interesting to observe how people respond to an electric car from a company better known for its low-cost smartphones, especially in light of the company’s prior disregard for warranty and after-sale support.
