Pakistan’s largest shrimp farm will be established on 1,000 acres of land in Punjab

Following the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab is about to launch one of the country’s biggest shrimp farming projects in 2024. This initiative will incorporate farming over 1,000 tons of shrimp on 1,000 acres of land and this will be considered to be the first venture of its kind in the region. The government of Punjab will provide grants and financial aid, land, and other required services and resources to support the project. The main decision directed by the CM Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is to start a farmer research project for shrimp farming and fisheries.  

The Fisheries Farms Association has appreciated CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s most outstanding leadership in launching this massive project. Furthermore, following the instructions of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Aurangzeb decided to meet with the delegation of the Fisheries Farms Association and assured them of the Punjab government’s full cooperation in this sector. During the meeting session, they decided to agree to promote cooperation among all relevant stakeholders to guarantee the successful implementation and launch of the shrimp farming project. Furthermore, Maryam Aurangzeb was so keen and focused on the directives of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif that the private sector would get all feasible aid for the fisheries and shrimp farming projects.  

She has also shed light on the most important point that the promotion of these projects would be achieved through the strong collaboration of all stakeholders. Maryam Aurangzeb has given importance to the point that the shrimp farming initiative would prove to be a game changer for the farmers of Punjab and Pakistan.  

The members of the delegation were keen to acknowledge the efforts of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif and they expressed confidence in that project by saying that it would produce very useful results. Members of the delegation appreciate CM Sharif’s vision for the shrimp farming project and fisheries by recognizing it as a most beautiful and successful initiative. The delegation of the Fisheries Farm Association members was Malik Azhar Mushtaq, Chaudhry Salahuddin, Dr. Shehzad Naveed, Chaudhry Mohammad Ashfaq, and Mohsin Raza Khadal.

 What will be the positive impacts of building this shrimp farm in the region of Punjab? 

If we talk about what the project will do in the future, yes, it will bring various positive results and benefits. 

  • The first benefit is it will create jobs. It will help in the creation of jobs for the common masses by assisting them to earn income from doing their respective jobs and improving their standard of living.  
  • Secondly, it will create export opportunities with a large-scale shrimp farm. Punjab’s export rate will be higher by exporting these shrimps to other states, bringing in foreign money, and this will improve the trade balance of the country. 
  •  Thirdly, after the success of this project, farmers will be capable of learning new technologies and techniques for farming the shrimps, which will be executed in other areas of aquaculture and agriculture. 
  •  Fourthly, it will help the farmers with financial aid and all the necessary equipment, infrastructures, and resources that will make it easier for them to initiate and maintain shrimp farming.  
  • Fifthly, it will boost the research and innovation in the sector by the farmer research project and they will be capable of finding better ways to learn fish and shrimp culturing, and this will lead to more efficient and sustainable practices.  
  • Sixthly, it will boost economic growth by producing a huge amount of shrimp, and this will help increase the overall wealth of Pakistan.
