Maryam Nawaz, the chief organiser of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), dissed her husband, Captain (ret.) Muhammad Safdar for going against the party line in a TV appearance.
The senior vice president has made it plain that no party leader, including her husband, Captain (retd) Safdar, should make any statements that contradict party doctrine and that any who do so will face heavy punishment.
Captain (retired) Safdar received criticism for defying the party, and the main organiser would shortly publish official PML-N policy guidelines. Earlier, Captain (retd) Safdar criticised the party’s stance during an interview with a private TV station at Data Darbar in Lahore.
He said that he did not anticipate his wife, who is widely seen as her father Nawaz Sharif’s replacement, taking over as Pakistan’s prime minister any time soon.
In response to a query on Raja Raza and other PTI lawmakers supporting the PML-N in the legislature, the party leader remarked that one should remain loyal regardless of the circumstances. He expressed his disapproval of it and questioned why they switched sides after winning on the ticket of the previous ruling party.
The party’s catchphrase, “respect the vote,” is well-known, but Captain (retd) Safdar said that on the day when it voted to prolong the term of former army head General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, the party betrayed it.
He continued, saying that because the story had been buried, it would not hold up anymore.
Shehbaz Sharif, the leader of the PML-N, said that everyone was “guilty,” with the exception of Pervaiz Rasheed, who chose not to cast a ballot that day, when asked if he was to blame for the political debacle.
Captain (retd) Safdar said that Nawaz was “misled” and “defrauded” when asked why the party leader did not oppose the extension. He said that Nawaz needed to reveal to the public the source of his “poor judgement” in that statement.
