The new city manager instructed the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) public transportation wing to immediately implement a mechanism to provide students and senior citizens with 50% fare concessions.

As per the details, children under the age of ten should be allowed to travel for free on the Metro Bus Service. The newly-appointed CDA chairman, retired Capt Noorul Amin Mengal, presided over the authority’s first meeting and received an update from the transport wing on ongoing metro bus services and the new plan.?

“Today, I directed the wing concerned to introduce a card-based system to give 50pc discount in fares to students and people above the age of 60. Similarly, we have decided not to charge fares for children below ten years of age,” the new chairman remarked.

Mr Mengal told the media that the engineering wing was also advised to revise the PC-Is of the Expressway and I.J. Principal Road in order to build bus stops for the service.

“Because construction work on widening these two roads is already underway, it is the appropriate time to revise the PC-Is for getting construction work on bus stops done from the same contractors,” he said, continuing that citizens should be provided with quality travel facilities.

Moreover, the meeting also decided that immediate steps should be taken to begin the Purple Line Metro bus service on I.J. Principal Road. According to a CDA press release, the Blue Line bus service would also extend up to Rawat

It was stated that silver buses would run from Aabpara to Tramri, whereas purple buses would run on I.J. Principal Road. The new CDA director directed the transport wing to meet with the NRTC to discuss purchasing a fleet of 20 buses from them on a government-to-government basis to operate on the new two routes. He also ordered that all new buses operating on 13 routes be electric.
