Zahid Ibrahim Bhatti, Administrator of the Fishermen’s Cooperative Society (FSC), visited wholesale fish markets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and planned to create a top-notch fish market at Karachi Fish Harbour.

In this regard, the Karachi Fishermen’s Cooperative Society and the Abu Dhabi Fishermen’s Cooperative Society agreed to collaborate.

According to reports, Bhatti visited many fish wholesale markets in Dubai, Ajman, and Abu Dhabi. Sultan Al Qubasi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Fish Market, praised Zahid Ibrahim Bhatti’s initiative to develop a new fish landing market in Karachi Fish Harbour.

The Abu Dhabi Fishermen’s Cooperative Society’s in-charge, Mushtaq Ali Buneri, guaranteed complete cooperation in this respect. FCS and Abu Dhabi FCS will work together to expand exports in the near future.

Moreover, it was reported that a Karachi Fish Market will be established on the site of the former mall offices as an international market for investors and fishermen in the style of?America, Europe,?and the UAE.

Earlier, Baluchistan’s provincial government?implemented “fishermen community policing” throughout the province’s territorial waters in order to secure the future of fishermen. Details revealed that the initiative will supply fishermen with basic IT equipment to “perform watch and ward functions” in the seawaters.

Sources reported that?Chief Minister Balochistan approved the Fisheries Department’s conceptual idea. The scheme’s motto is “Fishermen; Ocean Protectors,” and it will be implemented across the 12nm (nautical mile) of provincial waters. The project was launched to “protect the future of fishermen,” an official statement revealed.

Balochistan’s fishermen are concerned about poaching in province seas and despise illegal fishing. The Fisheries Department, on the other hand, has inadequate resources to adequately police its coastline and territorial waters.

Nonetheless, community policing by fishermen can preserve Balochistan’s seas from illicit fishing and trawling.
