In a historic first, women cycle squads have been deployed across Lahore’s bustling shopping center to prevent street crimes as shopping activity peaks in the final days of Ramadan. With families rushing to markets for Eid shopping, law enforcement has increased security efforts, providing a safe environment for all the people who love shopping, particularly women.

Strengthening Security During Eid Shopping Rush

As crowds swell in the days leading up to Eid, shopping hubs are often becoming the hotspots for pickpockets, snatchers, and harassment incidents. Lahore police have identified 92 key crime-prone areas and deployed over 1,000 officers, including female officers on bicycles, to tackle the issue by enhancing safety and preventing crimes.

Special security measures have been taken to protect female shoppers.

In a pioneering move, female police officers and plainclothes personnel are stationed at key locations to address harassment and take strict legal action against offenders. The main function behind this is to create a safe, family-friendly shopping experience during this busy time.

Comprehensive Security Plan

Lahore police have rolled out an integrated security plan involving more than 4,000 officers citywide, including:

✔️ Dedicated patrol teams in busy markets

✔️ Plainclothes personnel monitoring criminal activity

✔️ Specialized monitoring units equipped with advanced surveillance technology

Authorities have also tightened their watch on repeat offenders and have set up 226 checkpoints at sensitive locations to deter criminal activities.

To prevent ATM fraud and robberies, bank operating hours have been synchronized with police patrol schedules. Mobile teams now actively monitor banks, markets, and commercial areas, ensuring shoppers can withdraw cash safely.

• Elite Force, Dolphin Squad, and police response units deployed on key routes

Additionally, police have marked 55 hotspots for motorcycle stunt crackdowns, ensuring public safety.

Citizens’ Role in Ensuring Safety

As public movement ahead of Eid is increasing, police urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. If you witness any criminal behavior, call Police Helpline 15 immediately.

This proactive security approach not only safeguards shoppers but also fosters a sense of security for all Lahore residents, ensuring they can enjoy their Eid preparations without fear. 🚔✨
