Ninety-six percent of parents’ input is taken into consideration when making decisions, according to the minister.

The summer holiday timetable for public and private schools around the province has once again been adjusted by the Punjab School Education Department in response to the extreme heat wave.

All Punjabi government and private schools, including those in Lahore, have been informed that as of May 25, they will all be closed. The government was contacted by many private schools for early summer holidays, according to Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat.

He added that next week would see extremely high temperatures and that private schools that were holding exams were permitted to open this week. The education administration decided that May 25 would be the start of the summer break in schools after consulting with the PDMA.

The minister had earlier said that all public and private educational institutions would observe early summer vacations beginning on May 22. Rana Sikandar Hayat made the announcement of the decision and stressed in a video message the value of student health and safety in light of the present heat wave. According to him, when parents were queried about their thoughts on the holidays, 96% of them insisted that summer vacation begin this week.

All public and private schools would begin their summer breaks on May 22, as he had indicated. “The decision will not be applied to the schools where exams are being held,” stated the minister. He also said that schools who are holding exams have been given conditional permission to stay open in order to complete these assessments.

The provincial government had earlier declared summer vacation from June 1 to August 14 due to the extreme heat wave that was affecting Punjab. Punjab’s public and private schools will both be subject to the order, which states that classes will begin on August 15 nationwide.

In an additional notification, it was said that educational institutions will be altering their operating hours in order to shield staff and students from the bitter cold.

The notice stated that schools were expected to stay open from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday will be covered under this timetable. The choice was taken in reaction to the growing temperature, in an effort to reduce exposure to the intense noon sun.
