Elon Musk’s satellite internet provider, Starlink, is making preparations to set up two or three ground stations before formally registering since its licensing process is still awaiting clearance from Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior and an apology is needed for allegedly defaming the nation.
The business, which is already listed as “Starlink Internet Services (Private) Limited” with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), has described these ground stations as a crucial component of its intended deployment.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) claims that Starlink submitted an application for these ground stations in order to get ready to launch its low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites and offer internet services. During a briefing to the Senate Standing Committee on IT, this was revealed.
After submitting an application for a Long-Distance International (LDI) license on February 24, 2022, Starlink proceeded to submit 14 requests for Local Loop licenses on April 29, 2022. In March 2022, these applications were sent to the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication for review by stakeholders and a license decision.

The National Satellite Policy 2023 and the Pakistan Space Activities Rules 2024 govern the country’s satellite-based telecommunications services. The worldwide array of Starlink’s satellites runs without disrupting or harming terrestrial networks, according to confirmation from the Frequency Allocation Board (FAB).
Notwithstanding governmental and regulatory permissions, Starlink’s initiatives demonstrate its dedication to delivering satellite internet services to Pakistan.
Starlink offers several key benefits, especially for users in remote or underserved areas. The following are some of the primary benefits:
- Global Coverage:
Starlink aims to provide internet access worldwide through its constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites.
- High Download and Upload Speeds:
Users can experience download speeds of up to 220 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50 Mbps.
- Low Latency:
The proximity of LEO satellites to Earth results in lower latency compared to traditional satellite internet services, making it suitable for activities like online gaming and video conferencing.
- Easy Installation:
The Starlink kit is designed for easy self-installation, allowing users to set up their internet connection without professional assistance.
- Flexibility:
Starlink offers flexible service options, including the ability to pause and resume service as needed.
- Mobility:
Starlink’s service can be used in various locations, making it ideal for travelers and those in mobile homes.
These benefits make Starlink a compelling option for those seeking reliable and high-speed internet in areas where traditional broadband services may be lacking.
This development could significantly improve internet connectivity in Pakistan, especially in remote and underserved areas.
