Sri Lanka defeated Zimbabwe by nine wickets in the qualifying round at the Harare Sports Club to secure their spot in the forthcoming World Cup 2023.

The outcome of Zimbabwe’s match against Scotland will now determine their future, while Sri Lanka will play West Indies on July 7 while they wait to see who they will meet in the championship game.

In the wake of West Indies and Oman’s elimination from the competition, Zimbabwe, Scotland, and the Netherlands are currently battling for the final qualifying berth.

The victor of the qualifying round’s championship game will be regarded as the tournament’s first qualifier, and the runner-up will be listed as the competition’s second qualifier for the World Cup schedule.

The itinerary for the forthcoming championship game, which will take place in India later this year, was formally unveiled last week by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The competition, which will feature the top 10 teams, is set to begin on October 5 and end on November 19, with a total of 48 matches to be contested at ten different locations.

On October 6, in what is sure to be an exciting match, the Babar Azam-led team will make their tournament debut against the victor of the qualifying round final in Hyderabad.

On October 12, Pakistan will face the second finalist, and on October 15, at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, Pakistan will square off against its arch-rival India.

On October 20 and 23, respectively, in Bengaluru and Chennai, the national team will play Australia; on October 27, against Bangladesh; and on October 31, against South Africa.
