Sonia Shamroz, who formerly served in Lower Chitral, has now been appointed as Battagram’s first female District Police Officer (DPO).
According to sources, Miss Shamroz visited the Battagram Police Lines shortly after taking control, where she was received with a salute by the police force.
The newly appointed DPO also paid a visit to the martyrdom monument and prayed.
She spoke to a group of local Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), Traffic In-Charges, and Station House Officers (SHOs), ordering them to carry out their duties without fear or pressure.
Emphasizing the significance of accountability within the force, the DPO stated that those officers who did well would be rewarded, while those who were irresponsible in their duties would be held accountable.
In addition, Miss Shamroz also promised to prosecute drug traffickers, timber mafia, and other lawbreakers in order to rid the district of crime. She believed that a drug-free society was desperately required.
Local residents praised DPO Shamroz’s appointment, saying she should demonstrate her ability by efficiently battling drug trafficking. They said that because of the ineffective investigative process, drug peddlers were regularly given bail by courts immediately after their arrests.
Meanwhile, citizens also expressed hope that she will bring in the big timber mafia and assist tiny wood merchants.
Moreover, Aneela Naz, the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) for Peshawar, became the state’s first female traffic officer and can now be seen verifying licenses and informing people about traffic rules and regulations.
DSP Naz, who was promoted to DSP at KP’s Vehicle License Authority, claims to be the first woman to occupy the job.
