Solar electric cart service launched for local population in Mirpur city

On Wednesday, intercity solar electric public service vehicles were introduced in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), which is a big step towards environmentally friendly public transport.

The prototype project was launched by Mayor Usman Ali Khalid and Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz of Mirpur. Its first service area was the Kalayal Chowk to Thothal route.

The service’s goal is to offer reasonably priced transportation for Rs 30 per person, each stop.

The project emphasises the cooperation between the public and business sectors and will eventually expand to other domains.
Representatives from civil society and city officials attended the inaugural event.
