Security Cams Installed At Islamabad’s Commercial Areas Will Be Connected With Safe City Project

Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Captain (retd.) Muhammad Usman announced that the security cameras in the commercial areas of the capital will be linked with the Safe City project to further improve security and supervision. 


As per the sources, Islamabad Chief made this announcement during his first visit to the Safe City project. 

He said that the cameras will improve to avert crimes in the federal capital and that cameras will soon be deployed and activated on the Blue, Green, and Orange line buses as well. 


The Chief Commissioner was given a detailed briefing by the Inspector General of Islamabad Police (IGP),?Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan,?and other senior police officers during the visit. The IGP unveiled that 2,530 new cameras will be installed in phase two of the Safe City project, after which the camera surveillance system will cover 100 percent of the key locations. 


Moreover, Captain Usman reviewed the working of the cameras and appreciated the efforts made by the Islamabad Police to reduce the crime rate in the federal capital. 


The Islamabad Safe City Project told the media that the network of the entire city will be extended by adding 389 cameras in the system during last 30 days for broader online monitoring. 


Earlier this month, The Islamabad Police considering the worsening?Law and order situation in the capital of Pakistan,?announced that they would use ‘non-lethal’ drones to scatter riots and protesters. The latest technology will help ensure peace more effectively. 


They mentioned in a statement that they have “made significant progress to maintain peace, and Islamabad police has [sic] thought of benefitting from advancing technology capabilities to control rioters from creating havoc in the federal capital”. 


Sharing the news on Twitter, the Islamabad Police said that the Capital Police has acquired advanced technological capabilities to limit and regulate public gatherings to maintain law and order.
