The film ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ is once again making a splash in theaters these days. The film is performing well in its second innings, while the audience is also eagerly waiting for its sequel. Its second part was announced a long time ago and now an update has also come regarding its release date.
In a recent interview, ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru revealed that the second part of the film is almost ready. It may release on Valentine’s Day next year.
They also said that most of the songs of the sequel are already ready and the work on the film is going on at a fast pace. An official announcement will be made soon.
Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane’s Sanam Teri Kasam, which failed to perform well at the box office during its initial run, has now surpassed its original collection in only two days of its re-release.
Sanam Teri Kasam Re-Release Box Office
Sanam Teri Karam was re-released on February 7 and opened to a great response at the box office. Over its opening weekend, Sanam Teri Kasam gathered an estimated Rs 15.50 crore net, denoting the highest-ever opening weekend for a Bollywood re-release.
On Monday, it beat a few different movies, including Sky Force, Deva, Badass Ravikumar, and Loveyapa, getting an estimated Rs 3-3.25 crore net. In something like four days, its total re-release collection exceeded Rs 18.50 crore net—more than doubling its original lifetime profit of Rs 9 crore from its initial run nine years ago.
It might wind up facing competition from Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava on February 14 and the Hollywood superhero film Captain America: Brave New World.
About Sanam Teri Kasam
Sanam Teri Kasam was first released in 2016. Composed and directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, the movie is backed by Deepak Mukut and marked the Bollywood introduction of Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, with notable performances from Anurag Sinha, Manish Chaudhari, Murli Sharma, and Sudesh Berry.
The film follows the heartfelt journey of Inder, a toughened ex-con, and Saru, a conventional librarian. As their paths cross, they develop a romantic relationship and eventually get married, but an unforeseen tragedy alters their destiny. The film’s soundtrack was created by Himesh Reshammiya. Sanam Teri Kasam received mixed to favorable feedback from reviewers upon its 2016 release.
However, over time, it acquired a strong cult following, which led to its re-release on February 7, 2025. The re-release proved to be highly successful.
Salman Khan in Sanam Teri Kasam 2
During a recent conversation with Filmygyan, Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao revealed about considering casting Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the sequel.
Amid the film’s renewed success, filmmaking duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru confirmed that they will bring the hotly-anticipated sequel of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ to the cinemas next year, a decade after the first film was released around Valentine’s Day 2016.
“We are absolutely sure where Inder (Harshvardhan Rane)’s story is leading after this. That’s why, in the end [of the first film] he goes near that tree and Saru (Mawra Hocane)’s voice echoes with her dialogues, which prepares you for part two,” they shared.
“So we are ready with the sequel script. We have to release it next Valentine’s Day (2026),” they added.
