Punjab recruits 7,354 interns as teachers in government colleges

The government of Punjab has done the recruitment of 7,354 teachers and interns in government colleges across the province. 

In a briefing to the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Secretary of Higher Education Dr. Farrukh Naveed expressed that school educator assistants would be given Rs. 50,000 every month for eight months. 

The college teacher interns, hired under the Higher Education Internship Program, would show up in government colleges until the completion of the academic session by March 31. During the meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz complimented the higher education group for enlisting interns on merit by keeping up transparency, the statement read. 

The members were also informed in the briefing that the transfer and posting of 962 school educators had been finished under an e-transfer strategy. 

In another development, CM Maryam Nawaz launched the Chief Minister Laptop and Honhaar Scholarship Program, setting an objective of giving laptops to students in 90 days. The students will be given Core-i7 13th-generation PCs.

The central minister guided the authorities to give laptops to 2,000 students from minority communities. She also ordered the arrangement of laptops for the position holders in matriculation and FSc. The top students will also be presented with a guard of honor. 

Under the scheme, laptops will be provided to 20,000 students, 14,000 colleges, 4,000 technical and agricultural colleges, and 2,000 medical and dental colleges. It has been concluded that 32% of the laptops will be distributed among students from South Punjab. 

The students will be given 5,000 laptops in the upcoming 30 days and 35,000 by February 20. 

What’s more, 30,000 students of government educational institutions and 10,000 students of private institutions will be granted scholarships across Punjab, including 18,000 female students. The full tuition fee of the students of four to five years will be paid under the Honhaar Scholarship Program. 

As indicated by officials, 68,329 applications have been received for the scholarships, and 34,290 of them have been confirmed. They said 15.5% extra enrolment had been made in the public sector universities of Punjab, exceeding the target. The arrangement of vice-chancellors in 18 government universities has been made, and the process for six others is in progress, while one post will be re-advertised.
