The government of Punjab has announced to build of another Punjab House in Gwadar. The Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi approved the project.
As per the sources, the Balochistan government will provide the required land it will be built on.
The Punjab House is a guest house for the government officials of the province when they are traveling to different areas.?
Further details revealed that at a meeting to discuss the provinces current development projects, CM Elahi asked the provincial government to commence the bidding process for building the official residence. He stated that this project would be a step forward to better relations between provinces.
However, no specific date was given for when the formal procedure would start.
It is important to mention that each territorys provinces construct provincial houses for housing their staff and delegations when they come to visit. The homes will follow the rules and regulations of the provinces where they are located.
In another new development, the Punjab House in Murree had been transformed into a campus for Kohsar University (KU) a few years ago.
Sources unveiled that as per the decision, there had been Kohsar University in place of Punjab House, a mansion having 96 Kanal land under the provincial government that is used for a number of purposes including hosting guests, etc.
The classes have since been shifted out of the university for administrative reasons because the Punjab House had not completely been handed over to the university and it was facing a shortage of space for the students.
The university representatives had asked the federal and provincial governments to hand over the entire building to the university.
At that time,?PTI MNA Sadaqat Ali Abbasi said that the decision had been taken in view of former Prime Minister Imran Khans vision to use public buildings for common good.?He stated that students will be offered tourism studies and other practical education at the campus, which would be run by the Tourism Department of the university.
