The Punjab government has made significant progress in its solarization project, with a total plan ready to convey free solar power systems.Â
The project will be launched in different stages, beginning with the acknowledgment of the pilot stage by the CM of Punjab. In this initial stage, free solar energy systems will be given to clients who use up to 200 units of power.Â
For this initial phase the districts of Rajanpur and Attock have been selected for the distribution of free solar systems with the project scheduled to begin in October. The Punjab government plans to distribute solar systems worth 30 billion rupees under this solarization scheme.
In the second phase of the project solar systems will be distributed in less developed districts across Punjab. Consumers using up to 200 units of electricity will receive these systems for free, while those using up to 500 units will have access to interest free loans for solar panel installation.
Buyers will get the system free of charge, while they will get interest-free access to install solar panels for up to 500 units. If it is done, installments will be decreased. Continuous power outages and reliance on unsustainable energy have impacted the economy and the regular routines of residents, consequently the shift towards renewables.
Before, the CM was informed that the 1 KW solar system could run fans, lights, little motors, etc. As long as 16 hours of charging backup can be accomplished through the lithium-ion battery.Â

The scope of solar systems groups for domestic consumers will be broadened gradually, she affirmed.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, MPA Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning and Improvement, Secretaries Energy, Finance, CEO PPDCL (Punjab Power Department Company Limited), Managing Chief PPDB (Punjab Power Development Board), and other significant officials attended the meeting.
