Punjab Cm Seeks Plan For Shifting Govt Hospitals On Solar Energy

Punjab Chief Minister (CM), Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi directed the authorities to accelerate the completion of health projects and to formulate a strategy to convert public hospitals to solar energy gradually. 


CM was chairing a meeting to review current health sector projects, during which he ordered a full assessment of the solarisation of the hospitals and approved funds for the construction of the dental hospital in Jubilee Town. 


?During the meeting, he issued directives to complete the Institute of Child Health under a public-private partnership and ordered that the mother and child block of Ganga Ram Hospital should be completed this month. 


Moreover, he stated that the upgradation of DHQ hospitals in Gujranwala and Sahiwal should be completed soon. The meeting was told that DHQ hospital in Gujranwala was being established as a 500-bed teaching hospital whereas DHQ hospital Sahiwal would be designed as a 773-bed teaching hospital to provide the top healthcare facilities to the patients. 


The CM further directed that the installation of 30 dialysis machines and other equipment in the 250-bed Institute of Urology and Transplantation Rawalpindi should be completed as soon as possible while the outdoor and emergency block of Fateh Muhammad Buzdar Institute of Cardiology DG Khan be made functional shortly.


Besides, he also approved funds for the installation of a pet scan and cyclotron machine in Nishtar Hospital Multan. The 256-bed trauma centre and emergency of Jinnah Hospital would soon be operational. 


In addition, Pervez Elahi also approved the funds for installing the modern machine in the oncology ward of Jinnah Hospital. It was informed at the meeting that a 200-bed emergency ward will be completed in General Hospital Arfa Karim Tower in the first phase. 


Provincial Minister Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Dr Yasmin Rashid, former principal secretary GM Sikander, Chief Secretary Abdullah Sumbal, finance secretary and health department officials were present during the meeting.
