Punjab govt released Rs 2.7 billion for Apni Chhat Apna Ghar scheme

The Finance Department has released Rs 2.7 billion for the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar scheme and the Finance Department has put the budget online.

The government will also offer loans for the construction of five-marla houses. A budget of Rs 10 billion has been allocated for the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” programme.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has initiated the process of providing second installments to beneficiaries of the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program. The government aims to provide housing facilities to 6,000 individuals by the end of December.

The “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” programme, launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aims to provide affordable housing solutions to low-income families in Punjab. The programme offers interest-free loans of up to Rs 1.5 million, with a repayment period of five years.

Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a scheme to provide three-marla plots to deserving people in the province under the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ programme.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that the scheme will be initiated from Chistian community, adding that 666 plots will be allotted to deserving citizens.

It also approved gifting furniture and different basics for the initial five homes completed under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” project. The “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program is the first major project without interest-free in the nation’s history. 

In October, the Punjab government began looking at dispersion among eligible families to build their homes under the program. Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz went to the check distribution ceremony of the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ program as the chief guests. 

Talking at the event, Maryam Nawaz said that the Punjab government is fulfilling the dream of Nawaz Sharif by empowering the needy people to build their own homes. Maryam Nawaz said that around 500,000 applications were received for the program. 

She expressed that under the plan, the needy individuals will be given a credit of Rs 1.5 million. She said that there would be a draw-through voting form consistently. 

Rural Areas: Loan up to PKR 1.5 million for houses up to 10 Marla’s, repayable in regularly scheduled payments of PKR 14,000. 

Urban Areas: Loan up to PKR 1.5 million for houses up to 5 Marla’s, repayable in regularly scheduled payments of PKR 14,000. 

Major Cities: Development of four-story pads on government land, to be designated through a lottery system and given in easy installments. 

Furthermore, private housing plans offer homes going from 3 to 5 Marla’s, with the government giving a subsidy of up to PKR 1 million for each house.
