The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has begun formal steps to administratively separate the Pakistan super League (PSL), with plans underway to register it as a private limited organization, according to chief commercial Officer Salman Naseer.
speaking informally with journalists, Naseer confirmed that all paperwork for the establishment of “Pakistan super League personal limited” has been completed.
A proper announcement is expected once the ongoing PSL Season 10, which kicked off on April 11, 2025, concludes.
This action comes after extensive discussions over many years, with the PCB’s governing board initially sanctioning the PSL’s separation in November 2016 under the leadership of former PSL chairman Najam Sethi.
The initiative was designed to create the PSL as a self-sufficient organization with its own governing board, established as a private entity to operate independently from the PCB.

In an informal discussion with reporters, Naseer discovered that the paperwork for “Pakistan super League private limited” has been finalized, with a formal statement predicted after the conclusion of PSL Season 10, which commenced on April 11, 2025.
This move follows years and years of deliberation, with the PCB’s governing board first approving the PSL’s de-linking in November 2016 under then-PSL chairman Najam Sethi. The proposal aims to establish the PSL as an independent entity with its personal governing board, registered as a private agency to function autonomously from the PCB.
However, the plan for PSL as a separate entity faced delays because of legal and administrative hurdles, inclusive of opposition from the Securities and exchange commission of Pakistan (SECP) and concerns over PCB officials’ involvement in a personal entity.
The separation aims to enhance operational efficiency and entice private investment, though details on revenue-sharing and governance stay undisclosed. The announcement has sparked cautious optimism among franchises, who have long sought clarity on the league’s financial model. Further details are anticipated post-season.
