In a landmark move pointed toward reinforcing international cricket ties, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director Mohsin Naqvi met with USA Cricket CEO Jonathan Atkeison to finalize plans for a respective cricket series between the two countries. The meeting is viewed as an essential move toward reinforcing cricketing relations and extending the sport’s reach across the globe.

Mohsin Naqvi and Johnathan Atkeison also discussed a potential tri-series involving Pakistan, the USA, and Canada.

The proposal, which was brought up during a crucial meeting in Washington, could be a game-changer for cricket in the region.

This initiative aims to provide a platform for players from all three countries to compete at a high level, while also raising the profile of the sport in North America.

During the conversation, Naqvi highlighted PCB’s strong commitment to supporting the development of cricket in the US. He brought up that a bilateral series would be an excellent opportunity to raise the profile of the game in the U.S. Also, the PCB Chairman proposed to provide training to American coaches in Pakistan, fostering greater collaboration between the two nations and guaranteeing that both cricketing ecosystems benefit from the drive.

Naqvi guaranteed Atleison “all possible support” for the improvement of American players and the advancement of cricket in the US. He also proposed to prepare US coaches in Pakistan and welcomed Atkeison to visit Pakistan during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which begins next month.

Cricket in the US is a game played at the amateur, club, intercollegiate, and international competition levels with little popularity, with 200,000 players the nation over.

Major League Cricket is the most elevated level of domestic T20 cricket right now played in America, with T20 being the format of the game that a large part of the recent growth in American cricket is happening in.

Positive Response from USA Cricket

Atkinson expressed gratitude for the Champions Trophy Innovation and conveyed enthusiasm about the capability of this association. He acknowledged the amazing opportunities such collaborations could open for both cricket boards and their respective cricketing ecosystems.
