While talking to the media men, PR’s Chief Mechanical Engineer Abdul Haseeb said “These are the flat wagons on which containers would be kept and used for the transportation of various goods to various parts of the country from Lahore, Karachi and other major stations.”

He added that the Chinese firm is also responsible for manufacturing 200 CBUs, including 70 open-top, 70 flat,?and 40 covered wagons, as well as 20 brake vans, under the contract.

The contract calls for the procurement of up to 800 high-capacity waggons and 20 brake vans.

Last year, a letter of credit was opened; according to the contract’s various clauses, 600 wagons are to be designed and built in Pakistan at different carriage factories of Pakistan Railways in association with the Chinese engineer.
