Pakistan has expressed a strong interest in purchasing BELARUS tractors with 100 horsepower (hp) and above, as part of its efforts to modernize the agricultural sector. The announcement was made by the press service of Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) following a high-level visit by a Pakistani delegation led by Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan.

Strengthening Agricultural Ties

The Pakistani delegation visited the BELARUS machinery exhibition, assembly lines, and the MTZ museum. The delegation gained information about the strategies and expertise of the organization in producing durable and efficient tractors. In this meeting, main point of improving agriculture mechanization was discussed by increasing the supply of high-powered tractors that align with the needs of farmers across the country.

Pakistan, with its vast agricultural landscape, always looks for improving its agricultural productivity through modern and efficient machinery. The delegation’s keen interest in 100hp and above BELARUS tractors highlights the growing demand for more powerful agricultural equipment capable of handling diverse terrain and large-scale farming operations.

Plans for Local Assembly in Pakistan

Beyond direct purchases, both parties also explored the possibility of setting up an assembly plant in Pakistan. This initiative would boost local production, create jobs, and make tractors more affordable for Pakistani farmers. A local assembly facility would also facilitate technology transfer and skill development, strengthening the country’s agricultural machinery industry.

Ongoing Partnership with MTZ

This is not Pakistan’s first collaboration with MTZ. In December 2024, MTZ announced plans to deliver at least 2,700 BELARUS tractors of 60hp to Pakistan in 2025. The discussions at that time also included potential assembly of 60hp tractors in Pakistan, demonstrating a long-term commitment to cooperation in agricultural mechanization.

A Step Towards Agricultural Progress

Pakistan is actively navigating toward agricultural productivity by investing in modern tractors for agricultural practices. The potential deal with MTZ could provide farmers with better access to high-quality machinery, ensuring higher crop yields and more efficient farming practices in the years to come.
