Pakistan registered a jump of 18 percent in export of information technology (IT) goods during the month of January 2025 as compared with the same period of previous fiscal year of 2024.
A report issued by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) stated that during the month of January 2025 Pakistan exported IT goods worth $31.30 million while IT sector exported different IT items amounting to $26.50 million during January 2024.
Moreover, Pakistan’s IT exports have witnessed a highly impressive 28% surge, reaching $1.86 billion, marking a significant milestone for the country’s digital economy. The announcement was made by Minister of State for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, during her address at LEAP 2025, part of the Pakistan-Saudi Business Forum. She emphasized the government’s dedication to fostering a robust digital ecosystem and highlighted several key initiatives aimed at accelerating the country’s technological growth.
One of the landmark initiatives in this journey is the Digital Nation Act 2025, which Khawaja described as a transformative policy designed to reshape Pakistan’s digital landscape. “The Digital Nation Act 2025 is a pledge to transform Pakistan’s digital economy,” Shaza said, highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering innovation, supporting startups, and enhancing IT infrastructure. This act is expected to create new opportunities for businesses, boost employment in the tech sector, and captivate international investments.

Pakistan’s upcoming Digital Foreign Direct Investment Forum is likely to be exhibited at Islamabad Shaza unveiled. The agenda behind the Forum is to attract global investors, venture capitalists, and tech giants to explore investment opportunities in IT sector of Pakistan which is in its growth phase. The government considers foreign investment as a crucial factor that is driving the digital economy, and it is actively working on executing policies that will promote the best environment for business-minded people or stakeholders.
Further strengthening Pakistan’s position in the regional tech landscape, the minister emphasized the deepening digital and economic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Under the Pakistan-Saudi Vision 2030, both nations are bound to collaborate in evolving technologies, fintech, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing. These efforts align with Pakistan’s broader goal of establishing itself as a key player in the global technology market.
