With the adoption of 6GHz Wi-Fi, Pakistan becomes the tenth nation in the Asia-Pacific area. With the introduction of Wi-Fi 6E, the next generation of Wi-Fi technology, in the 6 Gigahertz (GHz) spectrum band, Pakistan has achieved a major milestone in wireless communication.

With this achievement, Pakistan becomes the tenth nation in the Asia-Pacific area to adopt 6GHz Wi-Fi, joining an exclusive club of sixty nations globally that have enabled this band for unlicensed use.

The accomplishment was declared during an event called “Unlocking Pakistan’s Connectivity: Enablement of Next-Gen Wi-Fi in 6GHz Band” by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Major General (retd) Hafeez Ur Rehman, the chairman of the PTA, praised this breakthrough as a major advancement that establishes Pakistan as a regional leader in the adoption of next-generation Wi-Fi technology.

Wi-Fi 6E is perfect for applications like virtual reality, online gaming, and video streaming since it has higher capacity, lower latency, and faster speeds.

With the use of this technology, the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands—which are currently used for a variety of purposes, including commonplace devices like Bluetooth, microwave ovens, and cordless phones—will no longer have congestion or latency problems.

The government’s “Digital Pakistan” goal, which aims to empower enterprises, ignite a wave of digital innovation, and bridge the digital divide, includes the deployment of Wi-Fi 6E. Pakistan is now in a position to promote a more inclusive digital economy by offering more dependable and fast internet connection.

The benefits of Wi-Fi 6E in Pakistan were emphasised by industry experts from META, Dynamic Spectrum Alliance (DSA), Jazz, Nayatel, and Huawei. These included improved performance, increased capacity, and an improved user experience. Wi-Fi 6E is anticipated to transform online connectivity and interaction for Pakistanis and pave the way for a more promising digital future.
