The event emphasized a shared commitment to sustainability, with global and local brands showing up in force. Adding to the momentum were supportive infrastructures like BYD’s upcoming EV charging network and a planned NEV-exclusive plant, signaling a promising green future for Pakistan’s automotive industry.

The Pakistan Auto Parts Show (PAPS) 2024, organised by the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM), opened on Friday at the Lahore Expo Centre.

Post-Auto Show MMC is booking for the BYD SEAL and ATTO 3 exclusively via its official website in Pakistan. Within the coming weeks, Mega Motor Corporation is expected to establish temporary showcase facilities in Lahore and Karachi, where customers would be capable of experiencing the cars and making bookings. However, the organization targets to open at least three BYD flagship showrooms in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad this year.

MMC has also started work on their PAN Pakistan EV charging infrastructure to solve range anxiety for all BYD and EV customers. Before this, the organization also declared its plans to set up the only state-of-the-art NEV-exclusive plant in Pakistan near Karachi. The entry of BYD into the Pakistani market confirms the long-term vision of the company to support the transition of the country towards a greener and more sustainable transport future. The opening of bookings for both BYD ATTO 3 and BYD SEAL represents a major milestone from BYD in delivering advanced NEV technologies to Pakistan, supporting the drive of the government towards cleaner mobility and minimizing the carbon footprint of the country.

IMC Displays their Toyota Corolla Cross at Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2024

Indus Motor Company {IMC} confidently attends as a diamond sponsor of the 2024 Pakistan Auto Show PAPS took place from 25th to 27th October in Lahore. A major focus during this year’s Pakistan Auto Show PAPS 2024 at the stand of IMC is their exploded view of their Corolla Cross, the first ever made in Pakistan and hybrid electric vehicle {HEV}, that is strongly proud of its highest ever local content. The event was joined by the Senior Director of Manufacturing of IMC, Mr. Makoto Kubota, and the Director of Manufacturing, Mr. Wali Muhammad Khan.

With its ongoing emphasis on Make in Pakistan, IMC demonstrates its firm dedication to local manufacturing, long-term viability, and dedication and innovation. Over the last more than one and more than IMC has allocated towards this localization effort, improving the production of high-quality vehicles while promoting local industry growth and creating jobs.

Given the substantial investments, IMC appeals to the government to deliver the local auto industry with sustainable policies that are expected to create long-term growth by ensuring policies favoring increased localization manufacturing. Pakistan is expected to further reinforce and strengthen its automotive industry. IMC also highlighted the requirement for continued long-term policies for hybrid electric vehicles {HEVs} and battery-powered hybrid electric vehicles {BHEVs}, as per AIDEP 21 to 26.

Clear supportive structures and guidelines for these advanced technologies are expected to guarantee that the country remains at the forefront of automotive innovation. IMC has highly broadened its footprint beyond Pakistan, currently initiating the export of vehicles to oceanic countries, raw material exports to Egypt and even delivering human resources expertise to Japan.

These achievements further highlight the global quality standards of IMC within Pakistan. However, continuing to maintain the highest localization levels for the vehicles, including their Corolla Cross. The local auto industry considers the influx of used car imports as being unfavorable.

Industry emphasizes the government to create policies that stop the excessive illegal import of used cars, which can highly undermine local production, negatively impact the national economy, and hurt the job creation. An emphasis on enhancing locally manufactured vehicles will boost and enhance the auto industry leading to an increase in the economic growth of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Auto Show {PAPS}, is considered to be a premier automotive event in Pakistan., gathering together original equipment manufacturers, OEMs, policymakers, government stakeholders, and the public.  PAPS 2024 is a platform for participants to share their latest vehicles and parts, interact with policymakers, and introduce state-of-the-art technologies and products.

MG HS PHEV

Following the original launch of the MG HS in 2021, the MG HS PHEV marks a significant new release. This mid-size crossover has seen strong sales, and with the current trend toward electrified vehicles, MG has introduced its latest generation HS PHEV. Produced locally as a CKD (completely knocked down) model, this approach keeps its pricing competitive. This is the all-new second-generation HS, different from the first-generation model still available in Pakistan.

With competitors like the H6 HEV and Santa Fe Hybrid, the HS offers a distinct advantage with its PHEV technology, delivering an impressive fuel efficiency of 58 km/l (as per company claims).

Inside, cabin insulation is robust, and the wide tires combined with a low roof height keep body roll minimal, though still somewhat noticeable as with most crossovers. One drawback, however, is the rear D-pillar blind spots, which may present challenges on Pakistani roads.

Once inside, if you cover the MG logo on the steering wheel, you’d be hard-pressed to tell if it’s a Chinese vehicle or a high-end German model. The attention to detail is impressive, with a well-crafted cockpit, PU leather seats, a soft-touch dashboard, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a premium-feeling center console inspired by European cars.
