Pakistan has initiated the construction of a Cultural Theme Park at the Kartarpur Corridor, home to the revered Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Punjab province.
The foundation stone for this project was laid by Aneeq Ahmad, the country’s caretaker federal religious minister, during his visit to Kartarpur Sahib. Ahmad also interacted with visiting Sikh Yatrees from India to inquire about the facilities at the gurdwara.
This ambitious theme park project is a collaborative effort between the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Kartarpur Corridor and a private company, Homeland Group.
According to Iqbal Sindhu of Homeland Group, the first phase of the project, which includes the development of restaurants, a food street, play areas, a cultural music arena, and shops, is set to be completed in six months. However, the entire project is expected to be finalized within three years.
In addition to offering joyland attractions, family and children’s rides, food streets, restaurants, and heritage shops, the Cultural Theme Park will feature a wide array of enticing amenities. These include a Water Park, Mini Zoo, Heritage Club, Regional Sports Centre, Heritage Village, Cottages & Resorts, and even a circus, promising a comprehensive and enjoyable experience for pilgrims and visitors.
The Kartarpur Corridor, inaugurated on November 9, 2019, by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, is a vital initiative that provides visa-free access to Indian Sikh pilgrims, enabling them to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib.
This revered site holds special significance as it was the residence of Sikhism’s founder, Baba Guru Nanak, during the early 16th century.
The development of the Cultural Theme Park reflects Pakistan’s commitment to welcoming pilgrims and enhancing their experience at this historic location, fostering goodwill and cultural exchange between India and Pakistan.?
