The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finalized plans for the construction of a major road connecting the Prime Minister’s House to the Margalla Enclave housing project, following directives from Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. This new route is expected to significantly reduce travel time, making the journey between the two locations just five minutes long.

The final approval for the project will be granted once CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa formally briefs the Interior Minister. Sources within the CDA revealed that immediate action was taken after clear instructions from the minister, with the Member of Planning and Design completing all groundwork within a short timeframe.

Road to Enhance Connectivity

According to an initial survey, the proposed road will stretch between 8 to 10 kilometers, running behind the Prime Minister’s House, passing through the Bhara Kahu bypass and Third Road, before reaching Margalla Enclave. CDA officials confirmed that ample land is available for the project and that the CDA master plan already includes provisions for this development.

The significance of the new road extends beyond just the Prime Minister’s House and Margalla Enclave. It is expected to greatly benefit residents of the surrounding areas, improving travel convenience for an estimated 250,000 people living in over half a dozen neighboring towns and communities.

Project Nearing Final Approval

A special CDA team has finished an initial survey of the designated land and submitted its report to the Chairman. After that, the next process comes which is for CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa to present the findings to the Interior Minister, after which final approval will be granted and funds will be allocated for construction.

This project is part of a broader effort to enhance road infrastructure in Islamabad, ensuring better connectivity, reduced congestion, and faster commutes. Once completed, the road will not only improve access to Margalla Enclave but also contribute to the overall urban development of the capital.
