The implementation of the highly anticipated New Peshawar Valley Housing Scheme (NPVHS) has encountered a temporary halt due to the limited powers of the caretaker setup in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Despite the vast potential of the project, which covers a commercial district and public amenities over an expansive 106,415 kanal of land, the caretaker government has faced challenges in making substantial progress.
Local residents have expressed concerns about the potential environmental impact and the possibility of displacement resulting from the development. However, the provincial government has assured the public that measures will be taken to minimize these impacts and address community needs.
The delay in the New Peshawar Valley project is undoubtedly disappointing for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who are in desperate need of additional housing options and essential amenities. Nevertheless, the caretaker government has affirmed its commitment to continue working on the project, ensuring that it will be completed once a new government assumes power.
According to the approved plan by the KP government, the New Peshawar Valley project designates 40% of the area for residential purposes, encompassing a vast expanse of Peshawar and the adjacent district of Nowshera.
The master plan allocates a total land area of 106,415 kanal, with 42,816 kanal dedicated to residential areas.
