Manawan-Harbanspura-Ring Road Project To Be Functional In October

The ManawanHarbanspura-Ring Road project will be completed by the end of next month, according to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA). 


The long-awaited Rs182.219 million project was facing delays despite growing traffic congestion and pollution. 

“We got it initiated in the best public interest,” LDA Vice Chairman Naeem ul Haq stated during the inspection of various city projects. 


During the inauguration ceremony of the Nayal Pul-Fateh Garh Road Rehabilitation project, LDA Vice Chairman directed the officials to pay attention to the completion of sports complex projects, particularly the Tajpura and Manawn sports complexes. 


The LDA officers briefed him on the current pace of work on other sports complex projects, Shahkam Chowk flyover, Saggian, and other road infrastructure improvement projects. “You must ensure quality while implementing all city projects,” he added. 


Additionally, an LDA team under the headship of Model Town assistant commissioner Sonia Sadaf launched a major operation in Garden Town and recovered 18 plots of 10 marlas (each) from the land grabbers. 


Moreover, a joint working group (JWG), including inter-city bus transport companies, ride-sharing services, and government officials supervising the transport sector was established to resolve problems in the way of an efficient and commercial public transport system in Punjab. 


The group was formulated during a follow-up meeting of public-private dialogue, arranged by the PBIT which was presided over by Chairman PBIT Fazeel Asif Jah. The participants comprised the representatives of Daewoo, Skyways, Faisal Movers, Uber/Careem, SWVL, and senior government representatives including the secretary of the Provincial Transport Authority, Mass Transit Authority, and Punjab Transport Company, additional secretary of the Transport Department were also present. 


During the conversation, transporters brought forward major issues like granting the industry status to the transport sector, accelerating the route approvals and permits for the inter-city bus operators, bus number plate registrations, and setting up of bus stands in various cities. Emerging topics like launching electric buses for environmental sustainability and recommendations for effectively operating them were also deliberated.
