Punjab Transport Department has completed the feasibility study for the much-anticipated Yellow Line Electric Transit Project in Lahore.
The city of Lahore is preparing for a significant leap in its public transportation network with the highly anticipated Yellow Line Train Project. The core aim behind the launch of this initiative is to address traffic congestion, this state-of-the-art transit line is expected to alter how Lahoris travel across the city.
Yellow Line Electric Transit project feasibility complete
As per the reliable sources, the feasibility study for the Yellow Line is completed. If all goes according to plan, construction is all scheduled to commence in September 2025, marking the start of a massive urban infrastructure development.
Project Route and Length
The Yellow Line will stretch across 24 kilometers,
- Starting from the Jinnah Bus Terminal
- Ending at Harbanspura, running primarily along the bustling Canal Road
This corridor is assumed to be one of Lahore’s busiest, and the new rail system is expected to provide much-needed relief to daily commuters.

Advanced Transit System
The project is likely to present an Automated Rapid Transit (ART) system, one of the most modern and efficient forms of mass transit. The trains will be fully electric and imported from China, similar to those already operating successfully in China and the UAE.

• 18 modern smart stations
• Estimated cost: Rs. 60 to Rs. 80 billion
• Expected completion: June 2026
• Daily ridership capacity: Around 130,000 passengers
Approval and Next Steps
The initiative has got initial ratification from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. This strongly reflects the provincial governments dedication and commitment to improving Lahore’s infrastructure. However, the project still expects final approvals from
