President Donald Trump’s reciprocal tariffs could lead Apple to raise the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max by as much as $350 in the United States.
The price of the latest iPhone version could skyrocket following President Donald Trump’s new ‘Liberation Day’ price lists, with experts warning that consumers may soon face eye-watering price hikes.
According to TechInsights analyst Wayne Lam, the production price for Apple’s popular phone could rise from $580 to $850 due to a staggering 54% tax on Chinese imports.
Apple, which manufactures its iPhones in China, is expected to pass those better costs onto clients. Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives predicts that the price of a 256GB iPhone 16 Pro could jump from $1,100 to a shocking $3,500.
Trump’s tariffs are a part of his strategy to inspire domestic manufacturing by making foreign items more expensive.
However, experts argue that Apple still needs to import raw materials for its devices, making manufacturing iPhones in the U.S. financially unfeasible.

During his first period, the Trump administration had previously imposed similar levies aimed at pressuring American groups to relocate production from China to the United States or allied nations, including Mexico. At that time, Apple controlled to secure waivers for numerous of its products, shielding them from the impact. But this time around, no exemptions have been granted as yet.
Analysts note that if the tariffs remain in place, they may significantly erode consumer calls for high-end devices amid ongoing inflationary pressures in the US economy.
While Apple has no longer issued an official reaction, experts suggest the company may remember diversifying its production base to nations along with India or Vietnam to mitigate future disruptions.
The effect of the tariffs is likely to ripple past iPhones, with different Apple products, such as iPads, MacBooks, and accessories, also expected to witness capability price hikes.
The improvement has reignited concerns about the fragility of global delivery chains and the long-term implications of escalating trade tensions between the world’s biggest economies.
