Infinix to launch first smartphone with scent tech that smells

Ever wished your smartphone might have its very own, very distinctive smell? Well, Infinix thinks you’ve got it, and so it’s going to answer your prayers with the upcoming Note 50s 5G+, which is due to release in India on April 18.

This phone will include “scent-tech.” Basically, it’s a way for the tool to launch a perfume from its rear panel. It’s clearly a unique feature (do not call it a gimmick), using microencapsulation technology, which traps fragrance molecules inside microscopic capsules.

The capsules are infused into the phone’s fake leather back, and they gradually release a light, fresh scent over the years. The scent is subtle and has to last around six months, although its depth and duration will range based on how the smartphone is used and the ambient conditions like temperature and humidity.

How does this scent tech work?

Infinix is advertising the technology as Energizing Scent-Tech. This manner traps fragrance molecules inside microscopic capsules, which are embedded in the phone’s vegan leather back panel. As an end result, the phone gradually releases a light, refreshing scent over time.

According to Infinix, the fragrance is designed to be subtle and long-lasting, though its intensity and duration might also range depending on how the phone is used and environmental factors like temperature and humidity. The organization claims the fragrance will remain for up to 6 months.

“We try to innovate. One such innovation is this Energizing Scent-Tech. It’s like you have got a good-quality phone, and it smells proper as well. There’s a lot of technology behind that,” Infinix India CEO Anish Kapoor stated.

Kapoor also hinted that the smartphone could be priced under Rs 20,000 in India. That’s a few $235 for a fancy phone, which isn’t exactly breaking the bank.

We don’t yet have the whole spec sheet for the phone, but given its anticipated fee tag, don’t expect anything especially premium. The official renders confirm it’ll feature a 64MP Sony IMX682 sensor as the primary camera.
