In a landmark move for the welfare of law enforcement personnel, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated a long-awaited housing scheme for the police, the first such initiative in 25 years. The project, named “NPFD One Capital Park City”, was launched in Islamabad during a ceremony that accentuated the government’s dedication to improving the living standards of police officers and their families and paying tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs.
Addressing the gathering, Naqvi stated that the housing scheme would provide plots to police personnel, families of fallen officers, and those injured in the line of duty. “This initiative ensures that police officers, martyrs’ families, and affected individuals will likely have the privilege to hold plots,” he claimed. This initiative is intended to address the long-standing housing needs of police employees, particularly those who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to the nation.
Naqvi personally distributed allotment letters to police employees from various provinces, including representatives of martyrs’ families. He congratulated the recipients and highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to expand welfare initiatives for the police under the National Police Foundation (NPF). He expressed confidence that the Foundation’s revitalized efforts would lead to further support for law enforcement personnel and their families.
The Interior Minister praised Managing Director Sabir Ahmed for his instrumental role in rejuvenating the National Police Foundation. He lauded the Foundation’s successful management of resources, noting that profits generated through such projects are being reinvested into initiatives that directly benefit police welfare. Naqvi also assured that sufficient funds are being secured to ensure financial stability for martyrs’ families and reiterated the government’s responsibility for the care of injured officers.
Looking ahead, Mohsin Naqvi declared a joint project between the National Police Foundation and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to benefit police personnel further. This new initiative, expected to launch soon, will give precedence to the families of martyrs and disabled officers, demonstrating the government’s continued commitment to supporting those who serve the nation.
The event saw the presence of top-ranked officials, including the Inspector General of Police Punjab, the Inspector General of Police Islamabad, and the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad. All of the participants applauded the efforts to enhance police welfare and committed to supporting the upcoming projects.
