Pakistan Railways intends to present a high-speed express train between Lahore and Karachi, similar to the Green Line Express that connects Islamabad and Karachi through Lahore. “The main goal of this new train administration is to offer travelers advanced conveniences and a superior travel insight,” an authority from the Ministry of Railways.
Teams from relevant departments are preparing for the launch of this modern train, which is expected to commence operations by the end of January next year. The official noticed that Pakistan Railways is leveraging new technology to locally produce train mentors, lessening dependence on imports.
The official emphasized that Pakistan Railways is focused on further developing passenger services, using new technology to locally deliver coaches, which will eliminate the requirement for imports.
Furthermore, he said the department is attempting to improve food quality and cleanliness to guarantee a comfortable and clean environment for travelers.
The Green-Line Express, which was introduced in 2015 by the Prime Minister at Islamabad’s Margalla Railway Station, at present requires around 20 hours to travel from Islamabad to Karachi Cantonment Station, with stops at key areas like Rawalpindi, Lahore, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Sukkar/Rohri, Hyderabad, and Drigh Road.

The official said the train offers different classes, including AC, AC parlor, and economy class, alongside a modern dining car that offers high-quality services.
Previously, Pakistan Railways introduced a 50% concession in rail fares for people with disabilities (PWDs) going in all express and passenger trains, barring the Green Line.
The discount is available upon presentation of a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) with the disability logo, an official from the Ministry of Railways confirmed. The discount also reaches out to the attendants accompanying visually impaired passengers.
Furthermore, the railways have made a few arrangements to help PWDs at major stations. Wheelchairs are available at all major stations, and special reservation and booking counters have been assigned for them at reservation offices.
Free access to executive washrooms and bathrooms is being given at select major stations, with 12 stations set to have dedicated executive washrooms for PWDs soon. The authority added that these offices plan to improve the comfort and availability of railway services for them.
