The government will create the Pakistan Business Portal (PBP), a crucial platform that would transform business-government relations at the federal, provincial, and local levels, in accordance with the World Bank’s Digital Economy Enhancement Programme (DEEP).
The Pakistan Business Portal will be the cornerstone of the DEEP effort, which aims to simplify regulatory procedures and improve the ease of doing business in the nation, according to sources within the Ministry of IT and Telecom who spoke with the media. The site, which focuses on streamlining and digitising compliance processes, has the potential to spur economic growth and ignite the country’s digital transformation.
Approximately 800 government agencies’ registrations, certificates, licences, and other regulatory requirements will be thoroughly reviewed and mapped as part of the project’s first phase. This painstaking procedure will set the stage for pinpointing problem areas and enacting changes meant to improve Pakistan’s economic climate.
An interim Project Management Unit will be established inside the Ministry of IT and Telecom to manage the development and implementation of the DEEP programme. The temporary unit will be responsible for supervising the DEEP project, guaranteeing its efficient implementation and compliance with predetermined schedules and goals.
The DEEP project is evidence of the international community’s commitment to Pakistan’s digital transformation strategy. It is backed by a finance package of $149.7 million authorised by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors.
